We are looking for committed, self-motivated individuals who ascribe to Weave's ideals of community and diversity. Preference will be given to those who are familiar with Weave's aesthetic and commitment to representing minority groups (ie: women, ethnic/racial minorities, LGBT, etc). All positions are volunteer and require you live in the Greater Pittsburgh area. You must be able to attend meetings located east of the city (Oakland, Squirrel Hill, Regent Square). Fiction Editor will:
- Hold at least an MFA OR be an MFA candidate in Fiction.
- Have experience/knowledge of editing and the craft of fiction.
- Manage, read and solicit all fiction submissions.
- Attend weekly meetings that would last a few hours.
- Be available to attend other outside events like book fairs and readings.
- Be comfortable using technology.
- NOTE: This position is for those interested in working with Weave indefinitely starting ASAP.
- Be enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program OR
- Hold a BA in an area relevant to publishing or creative writing.
- Read and comment on submissions in any genre.
- Assist in other specific areas of interest like design, event planning or advertising.
- Attend most weekly meetings, events and readings.
- Be comfortable using technology.
- NOTE: Editorial assistant positions are ongoing. Interns volunteer for a specific time period (ie: a semester) Both can be used to obtain class credit pending college/university approval and both begin in Fall 2010.
